Campus-3

History and Existing Campus Conditions

Campus 3 of Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang is located in the City of Batu, East Java. This campus was developed as part of UIN Malang’s long-term strategy to expand its higher education capacity, particularly to support academic activities, research, and scientific development that require a quieter, more spacious, and conducive environment.

The establishment of Campus 3 reflects the university’s effort to diversify campus functions, not merely as a teaching facility, but also as a center for academic development, research, and enhancement of learning quality. The natural and cool environment of Batu City, relatively distant from dense urban activities, makes Campus 3 strategically suitable for academic pursuits that demand a high level of concentration and intellectual focus.

Development Concept and Spatial Character

The development of UIN Malang Campus 3 adopts the concept of an environment-based academic and research campus. The spatial planning of the area emphasizes a balanced relationship between buildings, landscape, and the surrounding natural environment.

The spatial structure of Campus 3 reflects a low-density campus pattern, with a dominance of green open spaces that function as ecological buffers as well as areas for academic interaction. This spatial approach supports a reflective academic atmosphere and is oriented toward improving the quality of education and research activities.
