BIC Discusses Financial Literacy Amidst Rupiah Weakness

MALIKI ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY - The Bank Indonesia Corner (BIC) community at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang held a talk show event on the Digital Transformation of the Rupiah in the Literacy Room on the 1st floor of the UIN Malang Library. Thursday, May 21, 2026. This event served as an interactive discussion space for students to understand the development of digital finance and the importance of financial literacy amid current economic challenges.

The event was attended by students from UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang as well as students from Brawijaya University. The enthusiasm of the participants was evident from the start of the event through various discussions on the transformation of the digital financial system, personal financial management, and the current exchange rate of the rupiah, which is a concern for the public.

The BIC supervisor at UIN Malang, Mufid, M,. Hum., stated that this event is expected to be a starting point in building students' awareness of the importance of financial literacy.

“I hope this event becomes one of the interactive activities that can produce literacy ambassadors. Especially since the rupiah is currently weakening, we hope all members can understand how to face this situation and manage their finances to know good management,” he expressed.

He also emphasized that the younger generation needs to have a strong understanding of the development of digital economics to adapt to changing times and be wiser in managing finances. Meanwhile, the Chairperson of BIC UIN Malang, Martha, expressed appreciation to all participants who attended and participated in the event. According to her, this talk show is not only an academic forum but also a platform for collaboration among students from various campuses.

“I would like to thank you for your participation. I hope this activity becomes a venue for knowledge collaboration and provides benefits for all of us. Here, we will dissect how digital finance is developing in our country,” she said. Through this event, BIC UIN Malang continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting the improvement of financial literacy among students. Not only understanding theory, but students are also expected to apply good financial management in their daily lives, especially in facing the rapidly evolving digital economy.
