MALIKI ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY - Fourth semester student of UIN Malang's Arabic Language and Literature Study Program, Endang Mutia Hilma Yeni, successfully achieved 2nd place in the national khitobah competition organized by the Student Association of the Faculty of Literature at UM on May 6, 2026. This achievement became a valuable experience and proof of the training process and courage to continue developing her potential.
Endang expressed her gratitude for the achievement she has attained. For her, this competition is not just about winning, but also a learning process to enhance courage and self-confidence.
Her interest in the field of khitobah began when she was in the 2nd grade of MTs while attending a pesantren. Since then, she has been pursuing the world of public speaking and preaching through khitobah.
In preparing for the competition, Endang undertook various preparations, from practicing intonation, increasing her memorization, to regularly practicing speaking in front of a mirror. Although the training time was relatively short due to time constraints, she still strived to deliver her best performance.
“The biggest challenge for me was the other participants who were also very good, especially in terms of intonation,” she revealed.
The competition, which had around 25 participants, was held in person or offline without any online elimination rounds. Although it was brief, the competition left a significant impression on Endang, especially because she gained new experiences and connections with various participants.
Endang also conveyed a message to other students not to be afraid to try and to be brave enough to step out of their comfort zones to develop their abilities.
“Don’t be afraid to start, and don’t become insecure too quickly. When you are willing to step out of your comfort zone, you will succeed,” she advised.
Looking ahead, she hopes to continue to grow and preach through the path of khitobah as a form of religious outreach and personal development.
